06 - Golden Ratio Plaque
(Click for Details) This 3/4" Thick plaque is the one that started it all over 40 years ago. It was designed using the "Golden Ratio". At least since the Renaissance, many artists and architects have proportioned their works to a specific ratio - length to width - believing this proportion to be aesthetically pleasing. Euclid (about 300BC) in his "Elements" calls dividing a line at the 0.618034 point dividing a line in the extreme and mean ratio. This later gave rise to the name "Golden Mean or Golden Ratio". Mathematicians have studied this ratio for a very, very long time because of its unique and interesting properties and occurances in Art, Music, Arcitecture and Nature. Our sign is created with this same aspect ratio since the "Olden Days", as Mike says. Most folks agree - there's just something about its proportions that pleases and there's oodles of Sizes!

60 Paddle Sign
(Click for Details) This popular paddle-shaped sign is 5-1/4" X 23". The material is slightly thinner than our typical signs as it is finished at 5/8" thick due to the fact that it is clear, vertical-grained Western Red Cedar for outdoor endurance. It is not an actual oar, rather the simple shape of one so it doesn't have the shaped edges and roundness of a real paddle. The handle is wide enough to accomodate some smaller lettering. Even with the carving on the handle, the sign is useful as a pointer.
