Studio 8 Hot Box
NEW, Larger "Hot Box Style" Model This item is Brand New. The Studio 8 is the latest addition to our line of personal sized kilns.
With design and performance cues taken from the Hot Box the Studio 8 goes a step beyond by offering a larger chamber size of 8" x 8" x 4.5".
Some personal kilns tend to get heavy and clumsy to set-up, move and handle. Not the Studio 8. The fiber lid and base along with host of well placed handles make set-up and operation light and easy. The Studio 8 is definitely mobile.
Like its tough little brother the Hot Box, the Studio 8 is quite capable of all glass related firings up to 1800?F. It also has the speed and power you've come to know and love. Unlike its little brother however, the Studio 8's larger size allows for bigger pieces including many larger forms and molds.
Larger size, easy operation, capable and powerful, along with standard 120V outlet operation, make the Studio 8 a welcome addition to any glass studio or teachers toolbox.
Keep an eye on your glass firing without lifting a finger (or lid!!). The Studio 8 is available with a built-in viewing window. No guessing, no peeking, no prying. Just watch the magic through the viewing window. All four corners of the firing chamber are visible giving you full view of your glass as it gets worked by the heat.
A quick word regarding the Viewing Window. Heat loss is greater at the viewing window than heat loss through the fiber lid. Because of this, it is not recommended that the windowed lid be used as the base.
Control Options :
The Studio 8 is equipped with an infinite switch and pyrometer.
Firing Chamber Dimensions and Options:
Firing chamber dimensions are 8" long x 8" wide x 4.5" deep.
Voltage Considerations:
The Studio 8 is designed to work from a typical 120V household receptacle. Power Receptacle Configuration NEMA 5-15R.
Suitability:
All glass related firing up to 1800?F (982?C), such as painting, fusing, slumping, Pate de Verre, etc.. The Studio 8 is also very useful for testing compatibility and seminar use. Every glass artist should have at least one of these in their studio.
It should also be noted at this point, that the Studio 8 is designed to fire a single layer or shelf. Attempting to fire glass below the top shelf is likely to lead to frustration and disappointment. So.....one shelf only.
The Studio 8 does have some applications in the "ceramic" world. It's very nice for China and Porcelain painting. Beyond that, typical Ceramic, Porcelain and Pottery is not really possible.
